ウサギは知恵と長寿を象徴し、マンネンタケとフェアリーグラスも財富、健康、幸福を象徴。この2つの組み合わせは縁起の良い意味を与える。霊芝をくわえた縁起物としてのウサギは、力強く力強い線で描かれており、より華やかで幻想的な仕上がりとなっている。
前代未聞の両角獣の良く詰まっているウニコールの歯の根本太い部分を贅沢尽し。恐らく世界唯一の化け物ような逸品。
一角（ウニコール）の角は実際に牙だった、普段はその「独角」は実に特化された左歯だ。非常に少数のオスのウニコール(割合は約500：1) は、右側の歯も唇の外側に突き出て、稀に「二重牙」を形成。通常右側の牙は左側より短くかつ太い。
江戸時代より後々まで、ウニコールの名称で貴重な解毒薬や解熱剤・疱瘡の特効薬として珍重され、当時の医学書には、真面目にウニコールの薬効に関しての記述があった程。ペストの流行により、非常に高価であったにもかかわらず、飛ぶように売れたという記録も残っている。

A RARE MODEL OF A SUISEI in tooth ivory, it stands on a base with its head turned down to the left, its carapace well shown and its eyes inlaid in amber, the himotoshi is formed by a small rock to one side, 19th century (334)

The suisei is a rare form of kirin with a tortoise- like carapace and a single horn. The base here is cracked and was probably intended for a seal.
