法國象徵意義詩人，小說家，藏書家皮埃爾·路易斯（台譯皮埃·路易，Pierre Louÿs，1870—1925）死後公開發行的三部作品之一，也是兩部長篇小說之一。迄今為止本書仍然是唯一的英文版。
克拉拉·泰斯（Clara Tice,1888-1973）：美國前衛插畫家和藝術家，她的大部分時間都在美國紐約市度過。生平公開露面挑釁傳統藝術，被視為波西米亞格林威治村的代表，素有“（傳統藝術）挑釁女王”之稱。
本書銅版畫插圖為泰斯早年最著名代表作，10幅銅版畫中，泰斯運用了金銀箔、粉彩、浮水印等多種複雜工藝，成品歎為觀止，公認“精美插圖”（Beautifully illustrated）。

Pages are unmarked by previous owners. A few scattered text pages have very light soiling in margins. Light wear to cloth at spine ends and corners. Binding is square and tight. Boards are clean, though rubbed at edges, spine ends and corners. Text block is lightly soiled. Tope edge gilt.Binding tight. Hinges NOT cracked.
Clara Tice (22 May 1888 – 2 February 1973) was an American avant-garde illustrator and artist, who spent most of her life in New York City, United States. Because of her provocative art and public appearances, she was seen as representative of bohemian Greenwich Village and thus known as “The Queen of Greenwich Village.”
